Job post: Postdoctoral Fellow (CEVR-R075) / Research Associate(CEVR-R076) / Research Assistant (CEVR-R077) [Appointment period: contract of 12 months to max 36 months]
Organisation background: Centre for Eye and Vision Research Limited (CEVR) is a research collaboration between The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the University of Waterloo (UW) in Canada. It will be located at the Hong Kong Science Park, New Territories, Hong Kong. It will be the first global hub performing ground-breaking research in five key areas - myopia and eye growth, ocular drug discovery and delivery, vision enhancement, tear film and ocular surface and advanced optometric technology. The mission of CEVR is to generate technologies to prevent vision loss in the aging population and preserve healthy vision.
Research study background:
Normal cell lines from the posterior part of the human eyes (retina, choroid and sclera) are not common with just a few commercially available. To pave the way for in vitro functional genomics study for genetic variants found to be associated with refractive errors and myopia, we plan to use the technology of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) to generate different cell types in the retina, the choroid and the sclera via the use of different combinations of growth factors. Subsequent functional studies will use genomic technologies based on massively parallel analysis such MPRA, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, etc.
Required skills and job duty:
The appointees will assist the project leaders in the research project : "Myopia mechanisms - multiomics". The tasks include project development, study design/protocol, ethics application, experimental setup, data collection, data analysis and preparation of manuscript. Preference will be given to candidates who has the experience in the following areas: cell culture (a must), cell biology (a must), molecular biology (a must), genomic science or biomedical science.

Applicants for the Research Associate posts should have a master's degree or an equivalent qualification in one of the said disciplines.
Applicants for the Research Assistant posts should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification in one of the said disciplines.
