The Institute of Psychology at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, department of Biological Psychology and cognitive Neurosciences seeks to fill the position of a

 

Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)
in the field of cognitive neurosciences
 
 
commencing on 01.01.2022.
 
As a new team member, you will support our Department of Biological Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience (BPCN) and make a valuable contribution to the success of our research and teaching activities. Our department is primarily concerned with processes of visual perception. Both basic neuronal mechanisms of visual perception, e.g. phenomena such as repetition suppression and their explanatory approaches, and specific perceptual processes, as in the case of human faces, are investigated. For this purpose, new data are regularly collected in TMS, EEG, fMRI or behavioural experiments.
 
 
Your responsibilities:

·       Develop, coordinate, manage and publish research projects within the field of neurocognitive science
·       Contributions at international conferences
·       Publication of research results in international journals
·       Development of your own qualification project (habilitation, or equivalent)
·       largely independent planning and implementation of courses amounting to 4 course hours
·       Supervision of BSc. and MSc. Theses
·       Support of the professorship in administrative tasks, e.g. teaching planning and organisation of conferences
 
Your profile

·       University degree with focus on psychology or cognitive neurosciences
·       An excellent Ph.D. degree in the field of psychology or cognitive neurosciences
Experience in the planning, implementation/programming and evaluation of experiments with one or more of the above-mentioned methods
General programming skills (Python; Matlab)
Very good command of written and spoken English (knowledge of German an advantage but not a prerequisite)
Good academic record, including publications
Organisational skills
Teamworker

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension according to the possibilities of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz.
