[Neda Nategh]

NIH-funded postdoctoral and PhD positions are available in the Nategh Lab at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT. The laboratory is part of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Moran Eye Institute, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The research aims to elucidate the neural computations and circuit mechanisms underlying dynamic vision in order to decipher the brain algorithms generating our visual perception during saccadic eye movements. The approach involves a variety of methodologies including computational modeling, statistical signal processing, machine learning and inference, array electrophysiological recording, pharmacological manipulation, and psychophysical experiments in awake behaving nonhuman primates as well as human subjects.

The ideal candidate will have: expertise in computational science, statistics, and quantitative data analysis and modeling, strong programming skills, experience with electrophysiological or psychophysical experiments and data analysis, and a strong desire to work in a multidisciplinary and team-based environment. Experience with psychophysical and neurophysiological studies of saccade and attention, nonhuman primate research, or a background in vision science would be a plus but not required.
