A postdoctoral position and a PhD fellowship are available in the Research
Group Cognitive Neuroscience of Perception and Action, Anna Schubö, Marburg,
Germany, to work on the role of distractors in attentional selection.
The positions are within the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre
Cardinal Mechanisms of Perception" (
<http://www.sfb-perception.de/index-en/> www.sfb-perception.de/index-en/).
Project B3 examines how the brain determines priority in attentional
selection by using EEG methodology along with Psychophysics, Eye- and Motion
Tracking. The project is based at the Psychology Department of Marburg
University, Germany. Lab facilities include state-of-the-art EEG, eye- and
motion tracking labs, and access to a virtual reality lab. The lab is part
of a larger research group and offers a stimulating multi-disciplinary
research environment with links to an international network of excellent
scientists.
Starting date is any time between April 2022 and June 2022. The PhD position
is for three years, the postdoctoral position for 4 years.
The research will focus on the role of distractors in attentional selection,
on aspects such as the neural underpinnings of distractor suppression, or on
action planning and distractor handling in different selection scenarios.
The job profile includes research in these topics, especially designing,
conducting and analyzing eye-, motion-tracking or EEG experiments,
publishing the results in international journals, and presenting at
international conferences.
The positions require a MSc, the postdoc requires a PhD, in Psychology,
Cognitive Neuroscience, or related fields, and a solid grounding in
Experimental Psychology. Research experience, familiarity with EEG
methodology, eye- or motion tracking and programming skills would be
desirable.
Apply by March 31, 2022, by referring to fb04-0005-wmz-2022 for the Postdoc,
