Abstract: Towards the post-COVID-19 era, new lifestyles and social systems are required. To achieve these requirements, large amounts of data on various human characteristics are needed. However, it has become difficult to obtain such human data due to constraints imposed by social policies on infection prevention. In this talk, the author will present their experimental approaches for addressing this challenging situation. Specifically, recent research cases will be introduced, including those using new and emerging advanced technologies (e.g., virtual reality, motion platform, mixed reality, autonomous driving)

Bio: Takashi Kawai is a Professor at Department of Intermedia Art and Science, School of Fundamental Science and Engineering, Waseda University, Japan. He received his Ph.D., M.A., B.A. in Human Sciences from Waseda University, in 1998, 1995, and 1993. His research focuses on the human factors / ergonomics of advanced imaging technologies. He is a Certified Professional Ergonomist. Currently he is in charge of the Executive Committee of the International Ergonomics Association, and he is a Japan Committee Chair of the Advanced Imaging Society.
