*** 3- year Research Associate post – The Eye in Down syndrome as a window to Alzheimer’s Disease ***
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for a 3 year full-time position based in Northern Ireland, UK, to deliver an exciting project spanning ophthalmology, biomedical sciences and psychiatry. This project will investigate ocular structure and function of the Eye in Down syndrome as a window to Alzheimer's Disease, and will involve in-depth ocular imaging, visual assessment, biomarker sampling and cognitive assessments.
The researcher will be experienced in one or more of the following areas (i) ocular imaging analysis (ii) undertaking cognitive assessments related to Alzheimer’s disease and/or (iii) analysis of biological samples, but will have the opportunity to develop and learn new skills and methodologies working with an inter-disciplinary team. They will be involved in the development of materials, recruitment and data collection, and curation and analysis of the dataset. They will coordinate project meetings and help administrate the delivery of the project. The post-holder will be actively encouraged to develop their research experience, publish scientific papers and present research at international conferences.
The project is funded by an Alzheimer’s Society grant and the post-holder will work with the lead investigators at Ulster and Queen’s University, and co-investigators at UCL and Imperial College London. (Fixed-term until 31 August 2025).
