A PhD position is available in Giessen, Germany, to work in the field of computational cognitive neuroscience focusing on visual perception. The project combines machine learning with human behavioral and neural data.
The position is within the SFB-funded project “Factors shaping categorical face processing” in the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center Cardinal Mechanisms of Perception (https://www.sfb-perception.de/index-en/). The project is jointly headed by Katharina Dobs and Ben de Haas. The successful candidate will join the group of Katharina Dobs at the Psychology Department of Giessen University.
Starting date is any time between October 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023 and the position is funded until December 31st, 2025.
The lab is based at the Psychology Department of Giessen University, Germany, which offers excellent facilities for studying visual perception. These include a research-dedicated MRI facility (3T Siemens Prisma), access to high performance computing clusters, state of the art eyetracking labs and mobile eyetracking and a newly established virtual reality lab. The lab is part of a larger research group, with excellent links to scientists within Europe and worldwide (www.allpsych.uni-giessen.de), which offers a stimulating, multi-national and multi-disciplinary research environment. Giessen is a small university town, located just 60 km north of Frankfurt, right at the center of Germany.
