Hi everyone -

My lab (https://paclab.psych.ufl.edu/) is looking to hire a
postdoctoral associate to study peripheral vision using visual
psychophysics, real-time EEG, and virtual reality. Information about the
position is shown below. For prospective candidates, please feel free to
reach out to me at bodegaard at ufl.edu with any questions about the
position! Looking forward to the work ahead.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The post-doctoral position is funded by an Office of Naval Research young
investigator award to Dr. Odegaard to study how attention and metacognition
influence perceptual decision-making in peripheral vision. To that end, the
post-doctoral scholar will focus on conducting work for three specific
projects that relate to this award: (1) Conducting visual psychophysical
experiments to study decision-making biases in peripheral vision, and how
these may be ameliorated with different types of feedback; (2) using
real-time EEG to decode the locus of spatial attention, and probe visual
perception in unattended regions of visual space; (3) using virtual reality
to study perceptual decision-making in complex and naturalistic
environments. Dr. Odegaard’s laboratory is multi-disciplinary and
collaborative, offering opportunities for career development of post-doc
candidates. All lab members have access to high-performance computing
resources at the University of Florida (the “HiPerGator” supercomputer), as
well as laboratory resources for visual psychophysics, high-resolution eye
tracking, real-time EEG, and virtual reality. The post-doctoral researcher
will be provided with a new MacBook Pro laptop for work on projects
described above, as well as office space and other resources needed for
project management and overall success.

This position is well suited for individuals who can work independently
with high self-motivation. Post-doctoral researchers will have
opportunities to contribute to existing projects in the lab (described
above) and develop new research avenues in collaboration with the PI. We
aim to train the next generation of scientists, as the lab is
trainee-centered and surrounded by diverse expertise in the college and
across campus.

The Department of Psychology particularly welcomes applicants who can
contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment through their
scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and professional service. Please see

about diversity and inclusion in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

includes a full benefits package.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.D., in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Statistics, or a
closely related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

psychology, neuroscience, or closely related fields
Programming skills using MATLAB, Python, R, Python, or Unity
Excellence in written and verbal communication skills in English
Great team worker: strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work
collaboratively within a diverse team.
Expertise in conducting visual experiments and analyzing behavioral and
neural data
Can independently develop visual experiments in virtual reality environments
Experience with real-time neurofeedback (either EEG or fMRI)
Willing to move to Gainesville to perform job-related responsibilities.
