 *2-year postdoctoral position in artificial intelligence (deep learning &
image processing) at WUST, Wroclaw, Poland*

Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) is seeking to recruit a
post-doc to contribute to the project titled: “Post-cataract surgery dry
eye as a platform for the development of reliable models of dry eye disease
supporting its diagnosis and assessment” funded by the National Science
Centre of Poland within SONATA BIS-11 programme. The project, led by prof.
Dorota Szczesna-Iskander, has multidisciplinary character and involves
specialists from biomedical engineering, physics, chemistry and medicine. The
aim of this collaborative research project is to develop reliable metrics
for supporting diagnosis and assessment of dry eye disease and provide the
opportunity to study the effect of cataract surgery on ocular surface and
the risk factors that predispose to develop the disease after surgeries.

*Start date:*  March 2023

*Scope of work:* full-time position

*Requirements for the candidate:*

Doctorate degree less than 7 years since awarding of Ph.D.

Good command of spoken and written English

Experience in the preparation of scientific reports and publications in
English

Experience in working on scientific and research projects will be an
additional advantage

Very good theoretical and practical knowledge in:

·        image processing

·        machine learning

·        deep learning

Experience in programming in either MATLAB or Python is preferred.

Post-Doc will be responsible for developing advanced methods of objective
analysis of images recorded from the tear film.

The expected outcome will be robust methods for non-invasive objective tear
film assessment sensitive for subtle changes related to tear film quality.

The candidate is expected to contribute to preparation of refereed journal
articles and conference presentations, and participate in interdisciplinary
discussions.


*We offer:*

Full employment contract initially for a maximum of 2 years (from March
2023)

Monthly salary 10 000 PLN (double gross, it would be the subject of taxes,
social and health insurances and other legal deductions according to Polish
law)

Position with 100% focus on research (no teaching obligations)
