The Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Psychology in the area of visual cognition. We welcome applications from a wide variety of scholars. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research area involves visualization and visual reasoning, possibly with connections to visual communication and design. We especially encourage applications from scholars who are well versed in statistical and computational techniques and research design, and who incorporate efforts to improve reproducibility and replicability in the field.

Successful candidates are expected to establish and maintain an active and independent research program, teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession. A Ph.D. in Psychology or other discipline broadly related to visualization and visual reasoning is required prior to the start date, with a preferred start date of August 16, 2023. Salary is commensurate with rank and qualifications.
