*We are seeking an experienced neuroscientist to join the laboratory as a
Postdoctoral Scholar in the School of Optometry at the University of
California, Berkeley. *
The central goals of the laboratory are to further our understanding of the
neural basis of signal processing in the mammalian retina. Various projects
are available, related to motion-processing, retinal degeneration, and the
role of inhibitory interneurons in regulating the visual information
relayed by ganglion cells to higher visual centers.
Studies utilize multi-photon calcium imaging, single-cell patch-clamp
electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry and computational modeling.
Molecular approaches are used to manipulate circuits, stimulate specific
neural sub-types and target specific cell-types for recording.
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D., or foreign equivalent, in
neuroscience, molecular and cell biology, vision science, or related STEM
disciplines. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in
neuroscience, especially the visual system, and with experience in
electrophysiology, imaging, or application of molecular/genetic
approaches. Experience with programming, neural modeling, and data
analysis is highly advantageous.
The University of California is an equal opportunity and affirmative action
employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for
employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual
orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected
veteran status.
