POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN KASTNER LAB AT PRINCETON
A position for a postdoctoral associate in human and monkey electrophysiology is available in the Neuroscience of Attention & Perception Laboratory (NA&P Lab), led by Dr. Sabine Kastner at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute. The lab studies neural mechanisms of cognition in the primate brain. Intracranial recordings from human epilepsy patients and non-human primates are conducted using identical behavioral paradigms and combined with computational approaches.
We are seeking an extremely motivated postdoctoral researcher with background in human or monkey electrophysiology. Studies will include simultaneous recordings and stimulation from multiple, interconnected brain regions. The researcher will gain experience with the use of laminar/neuropixel probes and electrical microstimulation to study attention and decision making networks in a behaving animal model together with parallel studies in humans. The project is part of a NIMH Silvio O. Conte Center on the “Cognitive Thalamus”. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team of experimentalists, theoreticians and biostatisticians that studies thalamocortical interactions in different brain models (tree shrew, macaque, human neurotypical, schizophrenia patients) and levels of analyses (local- and large-scale circuits). This is a unique opportunity to learn about team science approaches.
Postdoctoral researchers are given the opportunity to participate in other lab research endeavors, and they are expected to make a strong contribution to the lab's overall research efforts. Training also includes an introduction to various advanced neuroimaging methodologies.
Essential qualifications for these positions include: a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Cognitive Science or other closely related fields. Experience working with behaving non-human primates and/or background in electrophysiology of the visual system are preferred. All candidates must possess strong quantitative skills (e.g. Matlab, C++, Python).
Applicants should apply via email to Sabine Kastner (skastner at princeton.edu)<mailto:skastner at princeton.edu)> and should post application materials (cover letter, CV, research statement, and contact information for 3 references) online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/29401.
This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
