YOUR TEAM
We are hiring two Postdocs willing to join the Pattern Analysis and Computer Vison (PAVIS) Research Line (https://pavis.iit.it/ ) coordinated by Dr. Alessio Del Bue. PAVIS is a 25-unit group with multi-disciplinary staff of PhDs, Technicians and PostDocs coming from several countries in Europe and abroad.
PAVIS is part of ELLIS (https://ellis.eu/) - an European network of excellence in AI, Machine Learning (ML) and Computer Vision (CV).

About the research project
PAVIS is willing to strengthen its current activities on 3D multi-modal scene understanding. Topics of interest are the study of novel ML and CV methods that can efficiently incorporate priors and constraints related to world physical models and semantic priors, computed both from vision, language models or other concurrent modalities.
In particular, we will investigate the interplay between vision and (large) language models (LLMs) to solve tasks related to 3D reasoning, visual (re-)localization, active vision, and neural/geometrical novel view rendering (NeRF, 3DGS) to name a few. We seek to develop models that can also be readily applicable to IIT interdisciplinary research, ranging from drug discovery to robotics, in particular by leveraging our inhouse robotics platforms (iCub, ErgoCub, R1 et al.) and HPC computational facilities.

Both junior and experienced candidates will be considered for the position.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or related areas
Documented expertise in:
- Computer Vision, with focus on multimodal machine learning
- ML and CV models with a preference for GNNs and Transformers architectures.
- Strong programming ability (Python preferred) with hands-on skills in AI and Deep Learning frameworks (e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow or equivalent tools)
- Ability/willingness to integrate within multidisciplinary research group
- Proven track record of publications in the relevant technical areas
- Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
- High motivation to learn
- Good priority management
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Fluency in spoken and written English

NICE-TO-HAVE
-    Knowledge of 3D vision (multi-view geometry, point cloud data processing, neural rendering)
-    Experience in deploying and finetune large language models
-    Practical experience on deploying ML models on HPC platforms
-    Team player skills with the ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
