[visionlist] Postdoctoral position in psychophysics at Cardiff University, UK

We seek a full-time post-doctoral research associate to work on a collaborative project in visual psychophysics as part of a programme of translational psychophysics research, funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) Biomedical Catalyst: Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme (DPFS).

The successful candidate will develop and perform psychophysical experiments, as well as undertake experiments with optical coherence tomography, perimetry, and other functional/imaging measures on healthy individuals and clinical populations. They will also take the lead in analysis of psychophysical and imaging data. The programme of research is part of a longstanding collaboration between researchers at Cardiff University, Ulster University, UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, London, and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The candidate will work closely with researchers from each of the collaborating institutions. The research environment
Cardiff University is a member of the Russell Group top 24 UK research-led universities.

The research is aligned with the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences (https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/optometry-vision-sciences). In the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF), the School was assessed as part of the 'Allied Health' unit of assessment, which was ranked 4th in the UK with an environmental ranking of 100%, and with 90% of researched deemed 'outstanding" in terms of its impact. Of the UK schools of optometry in the REF, Cardiff School of Optometry and Vision Sciences was ranked the highest. In 2007, the School expanded into a new £22million custom built research and teaching facility, situated in the Maindy Park Innovation Campus. Owing to many previously funded high-profile research projects, the School has acquired exceptional research  and clinical equipment that is available to both researchers and clinical personnel. The School houses many fully-equipped bespoke clinical testing areas, most notably the Cardiff University Eye Clinic and the Clinical Education and Research Facility (CERF). Academic staff also have close collaborations with clinicians at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC), the Neurosciences & Mental Health Research Institute, and the MRC Unit for Neuropsychiatric Genetics & Genomics, all based in Cardiff.
