Dear colleagues,
The Department of Psychology at Wake Forest University invites applications
for two tenure-track positions to begin in July 2025. Candidates who
believe they are competitive for both positions are welcome to apply for
both. We have a strong commitment to the development of a diverse and
inclusive educational environment and seek applicants who share this value.
The first position is in Human Neuroscience. For this position, we are
seeking a neuroscientist who focuses on one of two central departmental
research themes: 1) Self-Regulation (e.g., emotion regulation,
self-control) or 2) Assessment and/or Quantitative Methods (e.g.,
neuropsychological assessment, dynamical systems, computational
neuroscience). In their application materials, applicants should address –
and provide objective indicators of -- which one theme (self-regulation or
assessment/quantitative methods) their work best advances, and how. The
strongest candidates will be very strong in one of the themes rather than
less strong in both themes. Applicants should indicate which theme they
focus on in the cover letter. The successful candidate will be able to
teach and mentor students in Physiological Psychology as well as in their
specific expertise. The successful candidate will also be able to supervise
undergraduate research assistants and honors students as well as master’s
students in their area of expertise.
The second position is in Human Cognition. For this position, we are
seeking candidates whose research addresses cognitive processes from a
neuroscience or behavioral perspective, and who focus on one of two central
departmental research themes: 1) Self-Regulation (e.g., cognitive control;
executive function) or 2) Assessment and/or Quantitative Methods (e.g.,
neuropsychological assessment, measurement, dynamical systems,
computational modeling). In their application materials, applicants should
address – and provide objective indicators of -- which one theme
(self-regulation or assessment/quantitative methods) their work best
advances, and how. The strongest candidates will be very strong in one of
the themes rather than less strong in both themes. Applicants should
indicate which theme they focus on in the cover letter. Successful
candidates will be able to teach and mentor students in Cognitive
Psychology as well as in their specific expertise. The successful candidate
will also be able to supervise undergraduate research assistants and honors
students as well as master’s students in their area of expertise.
The department prioritizes rigorous scholarship, excellent teaching, and
strong methodological skills and seeks a colleague who is committed to the
Teacher-Scholar model. The successful candidate will teach courses in their
area(s) of expertise as well as more general courses at the undergraduate
and/or graduate level, conduct programmatic research, supervise
undergraduate and graduate student research, and be committed to diversity
and inclusion as core values. Applicants should plan to have received their
PhD by July 1st 2025 to be considered for this position.
The Department offers BA and research-oriented general MA degrees.
