Dear colleagues,
I am excited to share a call for articles for a special issue in vision
research on neurodiversity and visual function that I am guest editing with
several of my colleagues interested in neurodevelopment and vision. See
below for additional details. I am happy to answer questions and/or you
can reach out to the corresponding guest editor, Julie-Anne Little at

*Special issue in Vision Research: Neurodiversity and visual function
<https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/vision-research/about/call-for-papers#neurodiversity-and-visual-function>*
This special Issue will address current research contributing to our
knowledge and understanding of visual function in neurodiverse populations
(such as autism spectrum condition, attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD), dyspraxia, developmental coordination disorder (DCD),
dyslexia, dyscalculia or other developmental conditions). While there has
been a large body of research investigating higher level features of visual
function, including visual perception and attentional processes, this
special issue will focus on the structural and functional differences
affecting the lower levels of sensory and early visual processing from the
retina to the primary and extrastriate visual cortices in neurodiverse
individuals.
We welcome manuscripts providing insight into visual function associated
with neurodiversity across a range of methodologies such as psychophysics,
eye tracking, pupil autonomic function, imaging of the eye/retina and
brain, visual electrophysiology, qualitative assessments, and clinical
visual assessment.
Contributions may consist of original papers, reviews or commentaries
providing current insights into this topic area. We encourage
contributions that highlight evidence of co-production with those with
neurodiversity and open science practices.
*Instructions for submission:*
- *Please submit your manuscript via **EM portal here
<https://www.editorialmanager.com/VR/default.aspx>** before 31 January
2025.*
- To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion
into the special issue you are editing, it is important that authors select
the name of the special issue when they upload their manuscripts: *VSI:
Neurodiversity & visual function*
- *For any inquiries about the appropriateness of contribution
topics, please contact the corresponding Guest Editor, Prof Julie-Anne
Little at **ja.little at ulster.ac.uk <ja.little at ulster.ac.uk>*
