Dear colleagues,

we are proud to announce that the Department of Psychology at Giessen
University has awarded the Kurt-Koffka medal 2024 to Prof. Mary Hayhoe
(University of Texas, Austin).

The Kurt-Koffka award is meant to honor scientists who advanced the
fields of perception or developmental psychology to an extraordinary
extent. The award reminds of Kurt Koffka, who is well-known as a pioneer of
Gestalt Psychology, in particular in the fields of perception and child
development. Koffka worked in Giessen for 16 years, from 1911 to 1927.

This was the seventeenth time that the Kurt-Koffka medal was awarded. In a
ceremony that took place on July 3, 2024, Prof. Hayhoe was honored
for her work on active visual perception.

The previous winners of the medal were Marty Banks (Berkeley, USA) in 2007,
Claes von Hofsten (Uppsala) in 2008, Janette Atkinson (London) and Oliver
Braddick (Oxford) in 2009, Roberta Klatzky (Pittsburgh) in 2010, Concetta
Morrone (Pisa) and David Burr (Florence) in 2011, Sandra Trehub (Toronto)
in 2012, Stuart Anstis (UCSD) in 2013, Elizabeth Spelke (Harvard) in 2014,
Roland Johansson (Umea) in 2015, Andrew Meltzoff (Seattle) in 2016, Jan
