The Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences <https://www.bu.edu/psych/> at Boston University invites applicants for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level in the field of human cognitive neuroscience, to begin July 2025. The positions are in the Brain, Behavior, and Cognition area within the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, which has strong ties to the Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience, Graduate Program for Neuroscience, Center for Systems Neuroscience, and Cognitive Neuroimaging Center. We seek applicants whose research emphasizes non-invasive human cognitive neuroscience approaches such as functional MRI. Applicants are encouraged to highlight one or more of the following attributes in their application materials: (1) knowledge of both human brain anatomy and cognition; (2) use of innovative computational methods; (3) potential for synergy and/or complementarity of research topics with current faculty in the department (see https://www.bu.edu/psych/people/faculty/) or for interdisciplinary collaborations across the university. Each successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally supported program of research, engage in research training, and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Boston University expects excellence in teaching and in research and is committed to building a culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse scholarly community. Our university community welcomes differences, encourages open-minded exploration, and upholds freedom of expression. The successful candidates will be offered a competitive salary and start-up funding. Applications and supporting materials will only be accepted at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/28478. Applicants should provide a cover letter, a CV, a statement of teaching experience and interests, a statement of research interests, copies of three representative scholarly papers, and three letters of reference. The due date for applications to be assured of full consideration is October 25, 2024. Inquiries may be directed to Mary Perry (mcp at bu.edu).
BU conducts a background check on all final candidates for certain faculty and staff positions. The background check includes contacting the final candidate’s current and previous employer(s) to ask whether, in the last seven years, there has been a substantiated finding of misconduct violating that employer’s applicable sexual misconduct policies. To implement this process, the University requires a final candidate to complete and sign the form entitled “Authorization to Release Information” after execution of an offer letter.
We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military service, pregnancy or pregnancy-related condition, or because of marital, parental, or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We are a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
