Applications for Travel Grants will open Jan 6

The Vision Sciences Society is pleased to announce that we will be accepting applications for Travel Grants on Jan 6.

Travel Grants are intended to reduce the cost of travel to the VSS Annual Meeting for those with financial need. Travel grant awards are available for trainees ranging from undergraduates through postdocs. New this year: undergraduates may apply now and later submit a just-in-time abstract and you will learn about whether you received the grant before the deadline for just-in-time abstracts. 

Travel grants are intended to increase the participation of people from diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups and individuals facing significant financial obstacles to their attendance. We have multiple sources of funding for travel grants (from NSF, NIH, Elsevier and private donations) and can support undergraduates, researchers between degrees, graduate students and postdocs, including both US and international trainees. Applicants must be the first author on a submitted abstract. Previous VSS travel-award recipients are not eligible (2020 and 2021 award recipients excluded). 

All applications will be evaluated on a balance of criteria, including scientific quality of the submitted abstract (except for undergraduates planning on a just-in-time submission), financial need, and diversity. 

An awardee dinner for all undergraduates funded by travel grants will take place on Saturday evening at the meeting.
