Dear colleagues,
Please read on for more information about a special session on proactive social perception, relevant for those interested in active vision in humans and robots….
CALL FOR PAPERS:
IAS-19 - The 19th International Conference on Intelligent Autonomous Systems
Genoa (Italy), June 30 - July 4, 2025.

Special Session on
** Proactive Social Perception for Human-Robot Collaboration: From Vision to Language **
-------------------------------
This special session will explore cutting-edge advancements in human-robot interaction (HRI), focusing on proactive social perception, an interdisciplinary field that merges active perception, Theory of Mind, and multimodal interaction. By integrating vision, language, and cognitive models, this session seeks to address open challenges in enabling robots to proactively interpret and respond to human intentions and actions. Equally important is empowering and evaluating human collaborators, with varying skills and expertise, in their ability to interpret and understand the robot's internal (or mental) state, which is critical for fostering effective and seamless collaboration. Topics will span from fundamental research in adaptive perception frameworks to applications in collaborative robots and large language mode
Topics of Interest:
* Active Perception in HRI: Enabling robots to dynamically adjust perception strategies based on human intent.
* Adaptive Theory of Mind for Robotics: Integrating human-like reasoning to improve collaboration and trust.
* Large Language Models for HRI: Facilitating natural interactions through conversational agents that can inquire and clarify human requests to improve collaboration.
* Perceiving and Attributing Internal States to Robots: Studying and enabling human ability to perceive and attribute mental or internal states to robots, focusing on mechanisms that foster transparency, trust, and effective collaboration by accounting for human interpretation of robot emotions, intentions, and cognitive states.
* Perspective-Taking in Multimodal Interaction: Leveraging visual and linguistic data for nuanced understanding of human behavior.
* Proactive Intention Recognition: Planning and decision-making frameworks for joint tasks in real-world settings.
* Ethical and Responsible Collaboration: Frameworks for transparency and accountability in human-robot collaboration.
