ICDAR25 MapText Challenge: Call for Participation

Dear colleagues,


Following the success of the 2024 edition, we are excited to announce that the test set for the 2025 ICDAR Competition on Map Text Detection, Recognition, and Linking is now available! You can now submit your final results and method descriptions via the competition platform.


This edition continues to focus on text detection and recognition in challenging historical maps while introducing several new features:

  *   📍Expanded French Land Registers dataset

  *   🗺 New Taiwanese maps dataset from the GIS Center at Academia Sinica, featuring Chinese characters

  *   📊 Large synthetic training data for each dataset

  *   📈 Improved evaluation metrics for enhanced feedback

How to Participate

  *       Download the test set from the competition website<https://rrc.cvc.uab.es/?ch=32> (login required).

  *       Process the data using your system.

  *       Submit your predictions and method report before April 1, 2025.
