Dear colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Yuki Yoshida, and I am a
member of the MVA2025 Technical Event Staff. I am writing on behalf of
Professor Norimichi Ukita, the MVA2025 Technical Event Chair.

With the deadline for the official challenge “Small Multi-Object Tracking
for Spotting Birds (SMOT4SB) Challenge” at MVA2025 fast approaching, please
allow me to share some details about the challenge along with the current
participation status.

We are excited to invite you to participate in the Small Multi-Object
Tracking for Spotting Birds (SMOT4SB) Challenge, an official challenge at
MVA 2025, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan. This challenge builds on the
success of the MVA 2023 SOD4SB Challenge, extending the task from
image-based detection captured by UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to
dynamic video-based tracking of small birds.

🔹Challenge Overview:
 In this challenge, participants will develop and evaluate algorithms for
detecting and tracking small birds in footage captured by UAVs. A
distinguishing feature of this task is that both Multi-Object Tracking
(MOT) and Motion-Aware Tracking are required. The development of methods
capable of overcoming real-world challenges such as occlusions, motion
blur, and rapid movements is expected.
