******************************** OPAM 2025 ********************************

33rd Annual Workshop on Object Perception, Attention, and Memory

*NEW WEBSITE:* https://www.opamconference.com/

November 20, 2025 in Denver, Colorado

********************************************************************************

Firstly this is a reminder that the abstract submissions for OPAM33 are
open and will be accepted until Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 (last time zone on
earth)!

Secondly, if you missed our first OPAM online workshop on the topic of “Running
Online and In-Person Experiments Using PsychoPy” presented by Rebecca Hirst
(Open Science Tools), then you can still view the recording of this
workshop online on the OPAM website!
<https://www.opamconference.com/online-workshops/dr-rebecca-hirst> (free
registration required to view clip on website).

Thirdly, we are excited to announce two more upcoming online workshops to
be hosted by OPAM and which are completely free! These will cover the
topics of how to properly measure your experimental power for determining
sample sizes; and how to set up Quarto so that you can easily make
reproducible, publication ready manuscripts in just minutes!

The first workshop will feature Chris Jungerius (Cambridge) who will
discuss how to run power analysis simulations in R. *This workshop will
occur next week! On Thursday July 3rd from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM EST. *

*What will I learn in this workshop?*
This workshop will introduce you to running power analysis simulations in
R. By the end, you’ll learn what statistical power means in the
null-hypothesis significance testing framework and how to perform such a
power analysis for a class of models commonly used in cognitive psychology,
linear mixed models.

*Why should I attend the workshop?*
While psychologists as a community are now painfully aware that our field
is undergoing a replication crisis (or perhaps more accurately: a
generalizability crisis, see Yarkoni 2020), many of us are looking for ways
to safeguard the validity of our inferences. While statistical methods are
only one part of the solution to this problem, knowing the power of your
experiment to detect the effects you’re interested in is essential for
making your results interpretable and replicable.

The second workshop will feature Jason Geller (Boston College) who will
discuss how to easily make beautiful, publishable manuscripts that
integrate text, data and experiment code using the Quarto publishing
system. This worshop will occur on *Friday, August 8th at 9am EST*. *More
information on this workshop will be made available shortly!*

To attend one or both of these workshops, you will need to register for a
profile on the OPAM website (opamconference.com
<https://www.opamconference.com/>). Registration is free! And all
registered members will be sent an invitation to this webinar.
Alternatively, if you cannot join the webinar live then you can view a
recording of the webinar on our website.

We hope to see many of you online at one of our upcoming workshops, and of
course we hope to see you live in Denver at this years OPAM mini conference!
