The Applied Perception and Psychophysics Laboratory Group (APPLY Group, applylab.org<https://applylab.org/>) at the University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join our research team in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The team (led by Dr. Anna Kosovicheva and Dr. Benjamin Wolfe) studies fundamental and applied questions in vision science, and looks to the world for problems that can benefit from a vision science approach.

The individual in this position will work closely with Dr. Anna Kosovicheva to lead the lab's research on individual differences in spatial processing, peripheral vision, and gaze behaviour. While traditional models of these functions have emphasized commonalities across observers based on data from observers with healthy visual systems, these processes vary widely between people, change over the lifespan, and are shaped by visual impairments. Our lab aims to capture these individual differences and extend our fundamental understanding of them, ultimately informing applications in real-world settings.

Candidates for this postdoctoral position should have either completed, or are about to complete, a PhD in Psychology, Vision Science, Neuroscience, or a related discipline. Candidates with other relevant experience and a strong interest in experimental vision science will be considered. Candidates should ideally have experience in visual psychophysics research with human participants and strong programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python, or R). Prior experience with eye tracking or working with diverse populations is preferred, but not required. Most importantly, candidates should have an interest in studying fundamental and applied questions in perception using behavioral methods.

The initial appointment would be for one year, renewable based on performance. The start date is flexible, but ideally early-to-mid 2026. The University of Toronto and the greater Toronto area provide extensive opportunities for a postdoc to interact with a community of researchers in fundamental and applied vision science.
