Call for Workshop Proposals

We invite workshop proposals for the 2026 IEEE Conference on Automatic Face
and Gesture Recognition (FG 2026) in Kyoto, Japan. Accepted workshops will
be held on either May 25 or May 29, 2026, in the same venue as the FG 2026
main conference. Complementary to the main venue, we especially encourage
workshop proposals relating to emerging new fields or new application
domains of face and gesture analysis and synthesis.

[Submission Procedure]

Workshop proposals should include the following information:

- Workshop title

- Workshop motivation, expected outcomes, and impact

- List of organizers including affiliation, email address, and a short bio

- Tentative length of the workshop (half-day or full-day)

- Style of the workshop and related activities, e.g., poster/oral paper
presentations, invited talks, round tables, competition, hackathon, etc

- Tentative paper submission and review schedule (Ideally, the camera-ready
deadline will coincide with the main conference deadline on April 2)

- Planned advertisement, website hosting, potential sponsorships

- Paper submission procedure (submission website) if applicable

- Paper review procedure (single/double-blind, internal/external,
solicited/invited-only, the pool of reviewers, etc.)

- Tentative program committee, and invited speakers, if any

- Estimated number of submissions and acceptance rate

Call for Tutorial Proposals

We invite tutorial proposals for the 2026 IEEE Conference on Automatic

Face and Gesture Recognition (FG 2026) in Kyoto, Japan. The tutorials
should complement and enhance the scientific program of FG 2026 by
providing authoritative and comprehensive overviews of growing themes that
are of sufficient relevance with respect to the state-of-the-art and the
conference topics.



Accepted tutorials will be held on either May 25 or May 29, 2026, in the
same venue as the FG 2026 main conference. We solicit proposals on any
topic of interest to the FG community. Interdisciplinary topics that could
attract a significant cross-section of the community are highly encouraged.
We particularly welcome tutorials which address advances in emerging areas
not previously covered in an FG related tutorial.



[Submission Procedure]

Tutorial proposals should be submitted via email to Shiro Kumano (
shiro.kumano at ntt.com) and Koichiro Niinuma (kniinuma at fujitsu.com). The
title of the email should be: Tutorial proposal for IEEE FG 2026. The
proposal should consist of a PDF file appended to the email, and include
the following information:

- Title

- Proposer’s contact information and short CV

- Names of any additional lecturers and their short CV

- Tutorial description and description of relevance to the FG community and
an evaluation plan

- References and experience of the instructors with respect to the proposed
tutorial topic

- Planned length of the tutorial

- List of relevant tutorials recently presented in other conferences

- Requirements (e.g., facilities, internet access, etc.),

- Other useful information (e.g., estimated attendance, slides/notes

available, etc.).



The main conference will provide rooms, equipment, and coffee breaks for
the tutorials.



[Review process]

Tutorial proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their estimated
benefit for the community and their fit within the tutorials program as a
whole. Factors to be considered include relevance, timeliness, importance,
and audience appeal; suitability for presentation in a half or full day
format; past experience and qualifications of the instructors. Selection
will also be based on the overall distribution of topics, expected
attendance, and specialties of the intended audiences.

Call for Demo Presentations

The 20th IEEE Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG
2026) invites researchers from academia and industry to present live
demonstrations of their research findings and face/gesture recognition
systems to conference participants.

These demonstrations aim to provide tangible, practical, and interactive
validation of the presenters' research concepts and scientific or
engineering contributions. The primary objective is to offer researchers
and practitioners a platform for discussing operational face/gesture
recognition systems, applications, prototypes, or proof-of-concepts. Such a
setting enables conference attendees to observe and engage with live
demonstrations showcasing innovative solutions and concepts and to witness
cutting-edge research in action.

Demos are NOT restricted solely to the papers accepted by FG 2026 or its
associated workshops. We encourage the submission of any demo that
demonstrates the effectiveness of face and gesture recognition methods.
These demos may originate from papers accepted at other venues (e.g.,
extended works), such as peer-reviewed conferences or journals. However, it
is expected that these demos present innovative and novel research outcomes.

[Expected Contents]

We strongly encourage submissions in all areas related to face and gesture
analysis and synthesis, as outlined in the general call for papers for IEEE
FG 2026, which can be found at the following link:

[Submission Guidelines]

All submissions will undergo a peer-review process. Anonymous submission is
not mandatory, and the submission materials should include the following:

(Mandatory) A one-page proposal (including references) formatted according
to the standard IEEE FG 2026 guidelines.

This proposal should provide a comprehensive description of the
demonstrated system and articulate the novelty and significance of the
contribution to the FG community. Special emphasis should be placed on
detailing the specific demonstration scenarios for the system. This should
encompass how the audience will engage with the demo, the range of
functionalities it offers, user scenarios, interface design, interaction
options, and more.

In particular, the proposal should address the following aspects for the
evaluation:

- What is the scientific or engineering concept behind the work?

- What is the novelty of the work and how is the work different from
existing systems or - techniques?

- What is the expected impact on the FG community?

- What will be actually shown during the demo?

- What type of interactivity will be supported, for onsite and/or online
scenarios?

(Optional Supplementary Material)

If you have any special requests or unique requirements regarding the
configuration of your demo booth, you are welcome to submit an additional
one-page PDF file detailing these specifications. This document will help
us accommodate any specific needs you may have for your demo presentation.
Although not required, adding a video or a link to it is encouraged, as it
can help convey the content more clearly.

Demo proposals must be submitted electronically in PDF format through CMT.
The configuration description should be submitted as Supplementary Material
through the same CMT. Please ensure that all uploaded content falls within
the overall submission size limit of 100 MB.

Demonstration presentations that have been accepted, accompanied by a
one-page proposal adhering to FG2026’s camera-ready format, will be
featured in the proceedings of FG2026.
