Apologies for cross posting.
We are happy to announce the opening of several doctoral positions within the Marie Sklodowskaja Curie Action Doctoral Network EXPLORA: Perception of materials, objects and spaces through active EXPLORAtion: https://explora-network.github.io/web/
Scope: Humans instinctively explore the unknown in order to acquire information about it, to make sense of it, to act on it, and to appreciate what is in front of them. This involves dynamic engagement like walking, observing, handling objects, and manipulating them to witness changes in sight, touch, or sound. The relationship between perceptual experiences and the dynamic structures of the multi-sensorial information generated by active exploration is complex and still not well understood. Through a cross-sectoral, multi-disciplinary research and training programme, we aim to uncover links between perceptual impacts and active exploration systematically, quantitatively, and empirically. We will create impact through transfer between science, engineering, design, arts and industry and by connecting multiple levels of STEAM education from middle schools to doctoral education.
The successful candidates will be embedded in an international network of doctoral students and research labs as part of the EXPLORA Consortium. This will include potential for several international travel opportunities to EXPLORA training workshops/meetings, interaction and collaboration with other Consortium doctoral candidates and researchers, as well as several months spent on two secondments to EXPLORA partner labs.
Requirements: Individual positions are available in psychology, neuroscience, robotics, computer science, architecture & design. For specific openings and position requirements see: https://explora-network.github.io/web/projects.html and contact the involved partner directly. We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply.
In addition, these general requirements are important:
1. Applicants must not already have successfully defended your doctoral thesis, or be in possession of a doctoral degree, at the date of the recruitment.
2. Applicants must not have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the potential host country for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the date of recruitment.
Salary: The MSCA Doctoral Network fellowship is for three years and provides generous remuneration in line with the EC rules for grant holders. Effective funding amounts and total appointment duration (3 or 4 years) vary based on host country and local institution regulations.
We look forward to your applications!
