Apply Now for Travel Support to Attend VSS   

VSS is now accepting applications for Travel Grants for travel to the VSS 2026 meeting.

Travel Grants are designed to help offset the cost of attending the VSS Annual Meeting for individuals with demonstrated financial need. These grants are available to trainees at all levels, from undergraduates to postdoctoral researchers. Undergraduate members may apply before submitting an abstract and take advantage of a just-in-time abstract submission. Grant decisions will be communicated prior to the just-in-time abstract deadline.

The Travel Grant program aims to broaden participation at VSS by supporting individuals from a variety of backgrounds and those facing significant financial barriers to attendance. Funding for these grants is provided through multiple sources, including the NSF, NIH, Elsevier, and private donations. Support is available for undergraduates, researchers between degrees, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars, both within the U.S. and internationally. Applicants must be the first author on a submitted abstract or planning on a just-in-time abstract submission. Individuals who have previously received a VSS Travel Grant are not eligible, with the exception of award recipients from 2020 and 2021.

All applications will be evaluated on a balance of criteria, including scientific quality of the submitted abstract (except for undergraduates planning on a just-in-time submission), financial need, and background.

An awardee dinner for all undergraduates funded by travel grants will take place on Saturday evening at the meeting.

To Apply for a Travel Grant:

1.  Log in to your MyVSS Account. 

2.  On your account home page, click the 'Apply for a Travel Grant' button. Note that you will only see this button if you meet the criteria above.

3.  Complete the Travel Grant Application form.

Applications will be accepted through the end of day on January 19, 2026. Grant recipients will be announced on February 19, 2026.
