Dear Vision List moderator,
I may have missed it, but I did not see my message come through over the past
few days. Could it be that it got snowed under?
Thanks,
Gislin Dagnelie
------------Previous message--------------
Due to unfortunate circumstances, the Ultra-Low Vision lab at Johns Hopkins is
opening a search for a postdoctoral research fellow, for a 1 - 4 year period,
effective immediately.
The fellowship will be part of an NIH R61/R33-funded project, "Gaze-contingent
AI-assisted Low Vision Assistive Technology." Under this project we are
developing new head-worn technology that informs and assists users with
profound visual impairment about objects, people, obstacles, hazards, etc. in
their field of view, guided by their gaze. The success of this project will be
critically dependent on the contributions of a researcher with expertise in
human and machine vision.
The ideal applicant will have a PhD in vision science, computer science, or a
related field. Experience in cloud-based and mobile image processing for rapid
object and face recognition and in use of head-mounted eye tracking is highly
desirable.
The ULV Lab is part of the research and clinical team at the Lions Vision
Research and Rehabilitation center, a division of the Department of
ophthalmology (Wilmer Eye Institute), a team of ~40 talented and dedicated
clinicians, researchers, staff and students working to improve the lives of
people with vision loss.
