Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to announce the challenge track for the 2nd Workshop on
Multilingual and Multimodal Affective Computing (MMAC 2026), held in
conjunction with ACII 2026. Participating teams will have access to the
DIEM-A dataset, a unique collection of bodily expressions capturing 12
distinct emotions enacted by 92 performers.
This year's challenge invites you to tackle two exciting tracks:
- Performance Task: Can your model accurately detect which of the 12
specific emotions the performer intended to portray using only their body
movements?
- Explainability Task: Show us how your model thinks! We highly
encourage teams to analyze and visualize exactly how their models derive
specific emotions from body movements.
Accepted system description papers will be published in the ACII 2026
companion proceedings. Furthermore, teams will compete for our Best
Performance Award and Best Explainability Award, which will be presented at
the concluding workshop.
The challenge is now open for registration, allowing approved teams to
access the DIEM-A training data and textual context scenarios. Registration
information and more details about the challenge are provided at the workshop
website <https://sites.google.com/view/mmac-acii-2026/>.
We would appreciate it if you could share this information with contacts
and students who may be interested in this challenge.
Best regards,
The MMAC 2026 Organizing Committee
