Kia ora / Hello

A final reminder that abstract submissions close this Thursday on 30th April 2026 (NZT = GMT+12 hours). Please ensure you submit your abstracts by that date.

We have an exciting program, with a keynote presentation by Prof. Hakwan Lau<https://www.ibs.re.kr/eng/sub02_06_09.do>, and symposia on Synaesthesia, the Image Processing Foundations for Visual Cognition, Gaze Perception, Visual Snow, Imagined Sensations and Current Applications of Virtual Reality in Cognitive Science.

Auckland is a beautiful harbourside city, in close proximity by ferry to Waiheke Island - which hosts many vineyards and restaurants. There are also ample opportunities for tourism within the vibrant city of Auckland - so take advantage of this opportunity to engage with great science and colleagues while visiting New Zealand.

Please note that all presenters (including all speakers and discussants at Symposia) must register for the conference by the Early-Bird Deadline on 15th May 2026 via the link on the conference website: https://visualneuroscience.auckland.ac.nz/epc-apcv-2026

On the website you can also find more details about scheduled symposia, workshops and social events, and useful information about, visas, hotels and other things to do while you visit New Zealand.

Free Synaesthesia Forum
You are also invited to our free satellite event, the Aotearoa Synaesthesia Science and Community Forum, held prior to the main conference on Wednesday, 1 July from 12:00-15:15. This forum brings together leading figures in synaesthesia for an interdisciplinary programme of talks spanning sensory neuroscience, perception, and cultural and personal perspectives. The event is free and open to members of the public, but please register here for this event<https://mquni.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3lMgABbVS5DM6pw> <https://mquni.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3lMgABbVS5DM6pw> as spaces are limited.

Free Public Lecture
We also invite you to attend a public lecture by Prof. Gina Grimshaw (VUW) on Thursday, 2 July from 18:00-19:30 "Thinking with your head AND your heart: Emotions as core functions of mind". This is also a free event open to the public, but we ask attendees to register for this event<https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/thinking-with-your-head-and-your-heart-emotions-as-core-functions-of-mind-tickets-1987567841919?aff=oddtdtcreator> as spaces are limited.

Conference program:
We understand some people will require a conference program for making travel arrangements. We will work on scheduling when all abstracts are in and publish a draft program soon after. You can use this to find out the timing of your presentation. We will also directly inform attendees if they have been allocated to an oral or poster presentation.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Auckland!
