*Postdoc Position in Research on Visual Consciousness for 3 years 100%
TV-L E13*
We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral researcher with expertise in
psychophysics
to join our team dedicated to uncover the processes that give rise to
conscious visual
experience. Our research addresses this question through the study of
visual illusions,
visual masking, and inattentional processing. To this end, we employ a
multimodal
methodological approach that includes psychophysical experiments,
phenomenological
reports, eye-tracking, electrophysiological recordings, and the
opportunity for functional
magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in human participants
(https://www.psych.uni-goettingen.de/de/experimental).
The successful candidate will conduct research on the conditions under
which visual stimuli
reach conscious awareness and the mechanisms and consequences of
unconscious visual
processing. The research must be relevant to the department’s current
projects, preferably
in the field of visual illusions or experimentally induced visual
hallucinations in healthy
human observers.
The position is funded for three years at 100% TV-L E13 by the
University of Göttingen.
In addition to research activities, the postdoctoral researcher will
contribute to teaching
research methods to undergraduate psychology students. As these teaching
duties are
conducted in German, applicants must have German language skills at C1
level or equivalent.
