Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to announce that the *2027 ACM Symposium on Eye Tracking
Research & Applications (ETRA) *will be held from *June 7-10, 2027, in
Pamplona, Spain*. We cordially invite you to participate in this
prestigious event, which gathers researchers, practitioners, and
professionals from a wide range of disciplines with a shared interest in
advancing eye tracking research and its applications.

ETRA 2027 will showcase cutting-edge research and innovations in various
areas, including but not limited to oculomotor research, gaze tracking
systems, eye tracking applications, gaze-based interaction, and eye
movement data analysis. We welcome submissions of high-quality papers in
all areas related to eye tracking research, with particular interest in
topics that span across multiple domains such as visuomotor neuroscience,
perception, and cognition. Authors will have the choice to publish their
accepted full papers as journal articles in special issues of either PACM
CGIT or PACM HCI.

*Submission Guidelines:*

Authors are encouraged to submit original work that has not been previously
published or is not currently under review elsewhere. At least one author
of each accepted paper is required to register for and present their work
at the symposium; very few exceptions will be made, and if no author is
able to attend in person the most likely outcome is forced withdrawal.

*Important Dates (time zone: Anywhere on Earth – AoE):*

Full Papers:

   - Abstract submission (mandatory): October 9, 2026
   - Paper submission: October 16, 2026
   - First round reviews and notifications: January 22, 2027
   - Revisions due: February 19, 2027
   - Second round reviews and notifications: March 16, 2027
   - Camera-ready deadline (TAPS): April 19, 2027

Short Papers:

   - Abstract submission (mandatory): February 4, 2027
   - Paper submission: February 11, 2027
   - Notification following review: March 25, 2027
   - Camera-ready deadline (TAPS): April 19, 2027

*Publication Opportunities:*

We are excited to announce that accepted full papers will be published as
journal articles in special issues of either PACM CGIT or PACM HCI,
depending on the authors' choice. This offers an excellent opportunity for
your work to gain significant visibility and impact in the academic
community.

*ACM Open Access Model:*

Effective January 1, 2026, ACM transitioned to 100% Open Access through its
ACM OPEN initiative, and ETRA now operates under a "pay-to-publish" model.
Authors whose institution participates in ACM Open can publish without
incurring a fee; other authors will need to pay an Article Processing
Charge (APC) unless they qualify for a geographic or discretionary
financial hardship waiver. ACM is providing a one-year subsidy for 2027
that reduces the APC to $500 for ACM/SIG members and $750 for non-members
(a 29% discount off current list pricing). 2027 will be the final year of
this subsidy. These APCs apply specifically to full and short ETRA papers,
and do not apply to other submission categories such as demonstrations,
extended abstracts, keynotes, panels, work-in-progress, invited talks, or
posters.

*Considerations Prior to Submission:*

   - Societal Impact Statement: authors are required to include a 2–3
sentence Privacy and Ethics Statement addressing the potential societal
implications of their work – privacy, fairness, safety, human rights, data
sovereignty, potential misuse, or other benefit-risk trade-offs.
   - Author List: the author list is not editable after the abstract
deadline. This will be strictly enforced; submissions requiring changes to
the author list after this point will be withdrawn.
   - Use of LLMs: authorship must follow the ACM Policy on Authorship and
use of large language models. Any use of such tools must be disclosed as
   part of the submission.

*Topic Areas:*

ETRA 2027 invites submissions on a diverse set of topics, including but not
limited to:

   - *Data Analysis:* Novel methods such as deep learning, scanpath
analysis, clustering of gaze data, event detection, and large-scale data
   processing.
   - *Prediction Methods: *Gaze prediction, action or intent prediction,
   and attribute prediction.
   - *Visualization: *Visual representation of gaze patterns, visual
analytics, and their integration with machine learning.
   - *Eye Tracking Devices: *Advances in head-mounted and remote eye
tracking, novel sensors, and wearable devices, as well as gaze estimation
algorithms and data-driven models of the eye.
   - *Perception and Cognition:* Empirical studies on perception,
attention, oculomotor control, visual search, eye-hand coordination,
reading and communication, and eye tracking in naturalistic, in-the-wild
   settings.
   - *Gaze-Based Interaction:* Novel interaction methods, virtual and
augmented reality, multimodal interaction, and considerations of security
and privacy, including gaze-based authentication and privacy-preserving
   techniques.
   - *Applications: *Eye tracking in education, driving, healthcare,
virtual/augmented reality, graphics, virtual avatars, and media
   accessibility.

Please stay tuned for further details on the submission process, which will
be announced shortly on the ETRA 2027 website <http://etra.acm.org/2027>.

We eagerly anticipate your participation in ETRA 2027 in Pamplona and look
forward to the exciting discussions and collaborations that will continue
to push the boundaries of eye tracking research.

Sincerely,
