Dear list,
There are only about two weeks left to sign up for re:vision, a community
initiative to identify how well findings in visual neuroscience replicate
and how well they generalize out of distribution. We already have a good
number of participants with great proposals, but we would love to have even
more so that we can draw even stronger conclusions from the overall
outcomes:
https://re-vision-initiative.org/
Importantly, *no new data* will need to be collected. Instead, you will
gain access to LAION-fMRI <https://laion-fmri.hebartlab.com/>, a large
scale 7T fMRI dataset made for broadly sampling the visual world. You will
essentially only need to apply analyses similar to those used for the
original dataset and test whether they yield comparable results in the new
dataset. That's mostly it! :-)
Anyone who participates will:
- get the chance to be on the final replication paper
- can win cash prizes up to $2500
- can use it to write their own reports.
This initiative also works very well for postbac or student projects, as an
additional PhD project if another paper would be useful, or for PIs who
would like to have the chance to run some analyses themselves without the
high effort involved in conducting completely new research!
We would be delighted to have more participants! If the September 15
deadline is too tight, please do reach out and we can see what we can do!
Kind regards,
Martin
(on behalf of all re:vision board)
