The Brains, Minds & Bots Lab at Technische Universität Berlin invites
applications for a PhD position (three years) within the DFG-funded project
"Neural correlates of trust in human-AI interaction." The position is
expected to start in December 2026 or January 2027.
We seek a highly motivated doctoral candidate to investigate the neural
dynamics of mental states during human–AI and human–robot interaction. The
project examines how EEG can be used to derive implicit neural markers of
trust and to quantify attentional allocation and working memory load in
real time. By combining EEG/ERP methodology, cognitive modeling, and
behavioral paradigms targeting visual attention and working memory, the
project aims to establish objective measures of trust and cognitive
workload that enable continuous tracking of user states during interaction
with intelligent systems.
We are looking for candidates with a master's degree in psychology,
cognitive science, neuroscience or a related field. Experience with EEG,
programming (MATLAB, Python or R), and experimental design is an advantage
but not a prerequisite. The working language of the lab is English; German
is not required.
The position will be supervised by Tobias Feldmann-Wüstefeld and Eva Wiese.
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Tobias
Feldmann-Wüstefeld (feldmann-wuestefeld at tu-berlin.de) for further
information. When applying, please indicate that you learned about this
opportunity via the VisionList.
