<p class="MsoNormal">The Vision: Science to Applications (<a
href="http://www.yorku.ca/vista">VISTA</a>) program seeks
applications for up
to 23 domestic and international Graduate Scholarships (Masters
and PhD) at
York University, Toronto, Canada. The topic of research must
fall within
VISTA’s mandate, which is to support fundamental and applied
vision research that
combines biological and computational perspectives and has
translational
potential for health, industry, or other applications.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">VISTA is a program funded by the <a
href="http://www.cfref-apogee.gc.ca/home-accueil-eng.aspx">Canada
First Research
Excellence Fund</a> that will enable York University, and its
partners, to
accelerate York’s already world-class vision research. VISTA
involves five York
faculties, seven research centers (including the Centre for
Vision Research),
and over 50 partners in the international research community and
non-academic sectors
such as healthcare and private industry.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">VISTA awardees must be offered a position in
a York graduate
program in a discipline appropriate for the VISTA program (e.g.,
psychology,
neuroscience, computer science, engineering, philosophy, film,
or a medical
discipline). Applicants must be sponsored by at least one
proposed supervisor
from this list of <a
href="http://vista.info.yorku.ca/team/core-faculty">VISTA core
faculty</a>.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Scholarships
will be
awarded competitively based on the strength of the candidate,
the strength of
the research proposal, and fit with the goals of the VISTA
program. Up to 23
candidates will be awarded a scholarship of $10,000 CAD/year in
addition to
standard York base funding. Masters scholarships may be held for
up to 2 years.
Doctoral scholarships may be held for up to 4 years. For
