Research projects focus on individual differences in, and the malleability of, visual perception and attention. Study topics include what makes one individual a better visual searcher than another, how visual search abilities can be enhanced and trained, and how visual search skills develop. The project involves testing university-based participants in typical cognitive psychology studies and also assessing “big data” collected via smartphone apps. This position is funded by the Army Research Office, and the research program focuses on several applied topics including military and security searches.
