<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">Schepens Eye Research Institute, Mass Eye and Ear, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, has an opening for a full-time research assistant to work with Dr. Eli Peli and colleagues
in the Mobility Enhancement and Vision Rehabilitation Center of Excellence. <span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated person with above-average computer skills who would enjoy the challenge of working with virtual reality systems in studies evaluating
the effects of vision impairment and rehabilitation interventions on walking and driving. The main responsibilities will be associated with our driving simulator studies, including the administration, maintenance and running of our state-of-the-art driving
simulator, as well as assisting with the analysis of driving data and eye-tracking data logged during simulator sessions. The position may also involve working on other projects. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">The position is initially available for 12 months with possible extension and involves all stages of the research process from planning experiments to assisting with manuscript
writing and presentation preparation. The responsibilities will include developing and implementing experimental protocols, scripting driving simulator scenarios, recruiting subjects, collecting data, running simulator sessions, training and support for other
driving simulator users, maintaining databases, and processing and analyzing data. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">BA or BS in an area related to vision science is required. Good problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently on multiple tasks, and strong interpersonal skills are
essential. A strong background in computer use is necessary and an interest in developing programming skills would be advantageous. Knowledge of experimental psychology, visual psychophysics or statistics would be a plus. <o:p></o:p></p>
