<p class="MsoNormal">A fully funded PhD position (0.8-1.0 FTE, 5-4 years) is available at Utrecht University, focusing on the detection and recognition of social human interactions in video archives. The position is part of the ARBITER project, funded by the
Dutch science organization (NWO).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We will address (1) how interactions between people can best be represented quantitatively, and (2) how to automatically recognize interactions from video data. We will derive a coding system of quantitative units of body pose, movement
and the coordination between people. We use these representations to recognize interactions in video. Our focus is on the detection and recognition of social interactions in sustained encounters.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD candidate with a MSc degree in Computational Sciences or a similar discipline and demonstrated theoretical knowledge and experience in computer vision. Strong written and oral communication skills

<p class="MsoNormal">The candidate is offered a full-time (38 hours per week) PhD position for four years. Salary starts at €2,222 and increases to €2,840 gross per month in the fourth year of the appointment. The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus
of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. In addition we offer a pension scheme, a partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities. The research group will provide
