<p>The <a
href="https://www.mpg.de/151405/hirnforschung?section=all"

Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is an innovative and growing
research facility of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement
of Science.</p>
<p>The <a
href="https://brain.mpg.de/research/laurent-department.html"
title="https://brain.mpg.de/research/laurent-department.html"
target="_blank" class="external">Department of Neural Systems
and Coding</a> (Prof. Dr. Dr. Gilles Laurent) is part of the
interdisciplinary neuroscience campus in Frankfurt/Riedberg
where the new MPI building is located. Research in the
Department aims to understand the physiology of perception with
an experimental focus centered on neural computation, neuronal
coding and integration.</p>
<p>To support our international team of biologists, computer
scientists and physicists, we invite applications for a full
time staff position as Computer scientist or Scientific
programmer, starting as soon as possible, initially with a
fixed-term contract for two years.</p>
<h2>Your profile & our requirements</h2>
<p>We seek a self-driven and interactive individual with the
following skill set:</p>
<ul class="list">
<li>advanced programming skills and strong understanding of OOP
concepts</li>
<li>strong experience working with MATLAB or Python.</li>
<li>proficient understanding of code versioning tools</li>
<li>practical knowledge of best coding practices</li>
<li>experience with management, storage and access of large
datasets</li>
<li>cross platform development for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux
platforms.</li>
</ul>
<p>Applicants should be familiar with a scientific environment.
Knowledge of computational neuroscience and practice in other
programming languages (C, C++, R), as well as computer vision,
image processing, object recognition, automatic processing and
control of behavioral experiments would be of advantage.</p>
<p>Candidates are expected to hold a degree in a quantitative
field involving computational work, such as computer science,
physics, applied math, electrical engineering or comparable
research experience. Graduate work at Masters or PhD level
(science exposure) is a plus.</p>
