A postdoctoral position is immediately available in Dr. Gerd Brunner’s laboratory in the Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. This position is supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) investigating
the role of microvascular blood flow with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD). Dr. Brunner’s laboratory employs multi-modality imaging, image analysis, and machine learning to identify individuals with an increased
risk of atherothrombotic cardiovascular events. Highly motivated individuals with a recent Ph.D., first-author publications, and a strong drive for research are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will work primarily on NIH-funded studies in a collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team including clinicians and scientists. A PhD or MD/PhD in biomedical physics, biomedical computer-science/engineering,
or related field is preferred. Excellent computer programming skills are needed in MATLAB, Python and/or other languages. Excellent verbal and written communications skills and a willingness to learn about the multi-disciplinary aspects of ongoing research
are necessary for this position. To succeed in this position the applicant needs to be goal-oriented, self-sufficient, and able to work independently and in groups in a fast-paced research environment. Familiarity with policies and procedures of human subjects’
research and the operation of MRI scanners is preferred. Experience in machine learning (SVM, random-forests) and/or image segmentation methods is a plus.

The appointment will be initially for one year with a possibility of renewal for up to 4 years, based on productivity. The successful candidate is expected to apply for external post-doctoral funding during his/her tenure at BCM. Interested
individuals should send their CV including bibliography, research statement with career goals (2-3 pages) and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to: Gerd Brunner, M.S., Ph.D., Department of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine, 6501 Fannin Street,
Suite NA 306, Houston Texas 77030, U.S.A. Email (preferred): gbrunner@bcm.edu
