<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starter to perform neuroscientific experiments using cutting edge imaging and behavioral techniques to explore how the brain makes decisions. The project is a collaboration
between UCLA investigators, Drs. Josh Trachtenberg, Dario Ringach and Michele Basso. The goal is to use Ca<sup>++</sup> indicators to image the activity of live neurons in the brain, from multiple brain areas at the same time, during performance of complex
decision-making tasks. Using these novel techniques, we can measure the activity of molecularly identified neuronal cell types, learn how they form circuits within the brain and perform causal manipulations to learn how impairments of specific cell types or
brain areas lead to decision-making performance deficits. The successful candidate will work closely with the PIs performing all aspects of the experiments and data collection and analysis and will be play a key role in preparation of a manuscript for publication.
This position is ideal for a recent graduate planning to attend medical or graduate school in the coming year. UCLA has a vibrant community of neuroscientists many of whom share similar interests in brain function and dysfunction.
