<DIV>recognition will address recent findings in theory, methodologies, </DIV>
<DIV>and applications in image/video analysis and pattern. Its main goal </DIV>
<DIV>is to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art in image/video </DIV>
<DIV>analysis, and to promote further applications in a range of fields </DIV>
<DIV>including medical imaging, digital photography, multimedia, cultural </DIV>
<DIV>heritage, and surveillance.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>This is an open call for papers, soliciting original contributions in
</DIV>
<DIV>addition to selected works from the 2017 International Conference on </DIV>
<DIV>Image Analysis and Processing (ICIAP 2017), a well-established </DIV>
<DIV>conference series organized biennially by the Italian Member Society </DIV>
<DIV>(GIRPR) of the International Association for Pattern Recognition </DIV>
<DIV>(IAPR). </DIV>

<DIV>Manuscripts should conform to the author guidelines of the Journal of
</DIV>
<DIV>Electronic Imaging. Prospective authors should submit an electronic </DIV>
<DIV>copy of their manuscript through the online submission system at </DIV>
<DIV><A style='href: "https://jei.msubmit.net"'>https://jei.msubmit.net</A>. The
special section should be mentioned in </DIV>
<DIV>the cover letter. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two </DIV>
<DIV>independent reviewers. Peer review will commence immediately upon </DIV>
<DIV>manuscript submission, with a goal of making a first decision within </DIV>
<DIV>6 weeks. Special sections are opened online once a minimum of four </DIV>
<DIV>papers have been accepted. Each paper is published as soon as the </DIV>
<DIV>copyedited and typeset proofs are approved by the author.</DIV>
