This field has also generated controversies regarding the neural substrates of perceptual learning and the factors that determine when and how the gains of perceptual learning transfer beyond the training context. In this special issue, we seek articles spanning the broad field of perceptual learning, ranging from basic experimental findings, computational models, and translational applications of perceptual learning, to review papers that present recent advances in the field and discuss the future of perceptual learning research.
