Specifically, the chick form deprivation model of myopia is being used to investigate the role of local and circulating sex hormones in eye growth regulation, with the ocular sclera being the principal focus of our investigations. LC-MS/MS, real time PCR, western blotting and immunohistochemistry are being used as tools in our investigations. The main focus of the second project, which makes use of the guinea pig model, is the effects of IOP lowering drugs on myopia progression, as an extension of our recent published study involving latanoprost. Initial appointments will be for 12 months, with the potential to extend, funding permitting.</div><div style="margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;" class=""><br class=""></div><div style="margin: 0px;" class=""><span style="text-decoration: underline;" class="">Requirements</span>:</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">- Highly motivated and good team player.</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">- PhD degree with biological emphasis (sex hormone project), or ocular focus with some clinical experience (IOP-myopia control project).</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">- Excellent publication track records . </div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">- Experience with real-time PCR, western blotting and basis histology essential; experience with working with small animal models, LC-MS/MS and micro-dissection preferable (sex hormone project).</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">- Experience with clinical and functional ocular evaluations, such as ocular biometry, multifocal ergs and high resolution OCT imaging essential; experience with small animal models desirable.</div><div style="margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;" class=""><br class=""></div><div style="margin: 0px;" class=""><span style="text-decoration: underline;" class="">Application instructions</span>:</div><div style="margin: 0px;" class="">Please send your CV, accompanied by a cover letter, which includes the name and contact information of at least one reference writer, to <a href="mailto:martin.humenberger@naverlabs.com" class="">wildsoet@berkeley.edu</a>.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div apple-content-edited="true" class="">
