<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" class="">Applications are invited for the above post to work with Professor Alan Johnston, Professor Paul McGraw and Dr Neil Roach on a Leverhulme Trust funded project entitled
“An adaptable geometry for visual space perception”. The project will use psychophysical methods to investigate the fundamental question of how we gain a sense of spatial dimension. We will exploit adaptation paradigms that alter the perception of visual spatial
separation, size and regularity, supported by computational modelling.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" class="">Candidates should have a PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Science or a related field by the time of appointment and have a first class or high 2.1 undergraduate degree
in Psychology or related discipline. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of psychophysical methods, good programming and data analysis skills and an interest in applying mathematical concepts to vision science.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" class="">The successful candidate will join one of the largest and most vibrant vision groups in the UK. The School has a number of well-resourced psychophysics labs as well
as access to world leading brain imaging facilities. The School also hosts a new Computational Neuroscience Research group bridging Psychology and Mathematics. The School is located in the attractive University Park campus, with an adjacent tram stop allowing
easy access to the city of Nottingham.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" class="">This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;" class="">Full time hours for research staff average 36.25 hours per week and times of work are as determined by the Head of Department.</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;" class=""> </span></p>
