<span style="font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif" lang="EN-US">The mechanism of dry eye disease has been reported to be associated with many factors (e.g., inflammation, friction with eyelids, changes in tear osmolarity, amount of tear secretion,
wettability of ocular surface, tear evaporation) that interact in complex ways to form a pathological condition. Recently, oxidative stress has been implicated as an important factor in pathogenesis. This presentation will explore some of the environmental
factors on oxidative stress and the pathogenesis of dry eye disease. The presentation will also provide insight on predictive markers of oxidative stress and considerations for the management of increased oxidative stress status and its effect on the ocular

<span style="font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif" lang="EN-US">Dr Murat Dogru is an expert in ocular surface disorders, dry eye, ocular allergy and ocular inflammation. He conducts research in the field of ocular surface inflammation and oxidative
stress studying the molecular mechanisms of ocular inflammation with applications to autoimmunity, dry eye disease, contact lens wear and ocular allergy. He has authored more than 230 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has presented more than 200
invited and named lectures worldwide. Dr Dogru currently is a practicing ophthalmologist and a researcher with a research laboratory in Keio University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan.</span></p>
