<p class="MsoNormal">A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the new adaptive optics lab Newcastle University to work on a project funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship and the Reece Foundation. This is an opportunity to join a growing
interdisciplinary research group developing and using adaptive optics systems to study human vision. You will have the opportunity to work with and further extend an adaptive optics retinal imaging system (AOSLO) and to work with the PI to develop a new AO
instrument from the ground-up. The project centres around the development of these instruments to study the disruption to both eye movements and visual performance caused by refractive and retinal disorders, particularly focusing on central vision loss caused
by age-related macular degeneration. You will have the opportunity to work with clinical partners, patients and interdisciplinary researchers and students in vision science, and to get involved with outreach activities. Within the scope of the project and
instrument development goals, the PI will also support flexibility in tailoring the work to your interests and strengths.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">We are looking for a candidate with a good background in instrument development, with experience working in an optical laboratory and a passion for using their skills in the life sciences. While a background in adaptive optics (particularly
for the eye) is highly desirable, we value the diverse skillset of instrument developers - equivalent expertise in other areas of optics, imaging and related technologies would also be transferable.
