<p class="MsoNoSpacing">The <b>Vision Science Graduate Program </b>at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry is accepting applications for the Summer and Fall 2022 graduate programs, including the
<b>Master of Science</b> and <b>Doctoral </b>degrees. The deadline for completed applications is
<b>January 15<sup>th</sup>, 2022</b>.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">The Vision Science Graduate Program allows students to pursue a master’s or a doctoral degree within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Students are mentored by faculty from
several academic disciplines, spanning multiple schools and departments, including optometry, ophthalmology, neurobiology, neurology, psychology, behavioral neuroscience, occupational-therapy, rehabilitation science and more. The graduate program is organized
around four basic research themes: ocular biology, systems neuroscience, biomedical optics and patient-based vision science studies.

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">Students admitted into the doctoral program are provided full financial support throughout their years as a student. This includes a fellowship stipend, full tuition and fees coverage, and health insurance. Fellowships can also be funded
by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Graduate School, the Department of Optometry & Vision Science, the National Eye Institute or other outside agencies. Students who qualify are encouraged to submit applications for extramural pre-doctoral fellowships.

<p class="MsoNoSpacing">Interested applicants should have a strong background and education in biomedical sciences, engineering or optometry. The minimum acceptable GPA is a 3.0. Previous research experience is a plus.<o:p></o:p></p>
