<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:6.0pt;text-align:justify"><b>The Program</b> provides students with a broad base of knowledge in the vision sciences, as well as the resources and environment for students to develop expertise in specific areas of interest
in vision research. Students will receive tuition fellowships and graduate teaching and research assistant stipends. Graduate students work side-by side with a diverse and active group of basic, clinical and translational vision researchers using multidisciplinary
and state-of-the-art experimental approaches.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Research areas</span></b> include studies of normal and abnormal vision in humans and animal models, disease mechanisms and treatments for visual disorders.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:6.0pt;text-align:justify">Research faculty (

) carry out vision research using a broad range of approaches. Studies focus on ocular surface disease, inflammation, injury, repair and regeneration; contact lenses; visual optics, including high resolution ocular imaging, myopia development and prevention,
aberrations and metrics for evaluating image quality; structure/function relations in diseases affecting retina and optic nerve; visual neuroscience focused on functional neural circuits and development in retina and visual cortex, and visual-oculomotor mechanisms
in strabismus. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:6.0pt"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Educational requirements</span></b> include a minimum of a BS degree (or equivalent) in biological or physical sciences, engineering, optometry or medicine. The ideal candidate
would have research interests and experience in vision or related sciences. <o:p>
