researchers. The positions will be based in the Multisensory Perception and Cognition Lab (multisensorytcd.com), led by Professor Fiona Newell. A brief description of the respective projects is provided below. The research involved in all projects is based

<b><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">Multisensory object perception:<o:p></o:p></span></b></li></ol>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">The goal of this project is to investigate the visual, auditory and tactile features associated with the perception and recognition of objects. Investigations, based mainly on experimental/psychophysical
methods, will explore the role of multisensory and predictive processes on the categorisation of objects in children and adults. The research will be conducted in collaboration with Robert Whelan, Institute of Neuroscience TCD. Successful candidates are expected
to take up the position as soon as possible and a 2-year commitment to the project is expected, with a possibility for extension.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt"><b><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">2. Perceptual aesthetics:<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">The aim of this project is to investigate the perceptual basis of aesthetic decisions. In particular, this project will investigate the role of light and colour variation in stained glass windows
on perceptual and aesthetic judgements. The research will be conducted in collaboration with David Shepherd, Director of the Trinity Centre for Biblical Studies, TCD and Harriet Allen, University of Nottingham, UK. Successful candidates are expected to take
up the position as soon as possible and an 18-month commitment to the project is expected.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><b><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">Requirements<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt;text-align:justify"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">All candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience or a cognate discipline, with a background in theoretical and empirical studies of human
perceptual processes. Experience in designing and conducting experiments as well as excellent data analytical skills are essential. Good programming/mathematical skills (e.g. Matlab, Python) are desirable. The ‘Multisensory perception of objects’ project includes
some neuroimaging (fMRI) therefore experience with this methodology would be an advantage, although on-site training will be available.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size:11.0pt">Both positions include a starting annual gross salary of between €38,000 - €42,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
